Pickersgill-Kaye Locking Products Achieve Red Book Status

Pickersgill-Kaye, a trading division of ASSA ABLOY the global leader in door opening solutions, has teamed up with ASSA ABLOY Security Doors to achieve Loss Prevention Standards LPS 1175: Issue 7 SR3 and SR4 security rating approval for inclusion in the security door business ‘bible’, the British Research Establishment’s (BRE) Red Book.

LPS 1175 is the most widely recognised security door standard, and the one most commonly specified by architects in the UK. Pickersgill-Kaye, the leading supplier of high security locking systems, has received accreditationfor BRE’s catalogue of security products for the HS100 Series surface mount Single and Multipoint locking range.

Following a joint test programme in conjunction with ASSA ABLOY Security Doors, the SR3 and SR4 security ratings apply to the doors fitted with Pickersgill-Kaye’s single and multipoint lock versions. ASSA ABLOY Security Doors now has one of the most comprehensive, fully certified security doors product ranges available in the UK.

Testing with single point locks will help reduce cost, simplify the doorset and lower on-going maintenance. The locking system’s quality and unique modular design allows interchangeability between single and multipoint versions. This provides significant advantages in manufacture and consistency in appearance.

The cylinder guard has a unique design that allows the cylinder to be upgraded without removing the existing lock from the door, this can save hours of specialist labour on site and is a major benefit to the end client.

Developed specifically to protect high security national infrastructure and high risk commercial installations, the combination of Pickersgill-Kaye locks and ASSA ABLOY Security Doors provide exceptional levels of physical attack resistance, without compromising health and safety requirements.

Both doorsets and locking systems have been manufactured to the highest technological standard and aesthetically designed to complement the modern workplace. They provide a multitude of operational and functional door opening requirements, with unrivalled compliance with the latest emergency BSEN 179 and panic escape BSEN 1125 standard regulations.

Pickersgill-Kaye High Security Locking Product Sales Manager, Phil Prigg, said: “Prolonged and specialist attack testing on these products was very harsh using sophisticated tools and techniques, including heavy duty power tools, but the locks passed with flying colours, demonstrating our commitment to supplying exceptional security solutions for protecting people and property.”

Red Book accreditation brings more choice to the security market as well as giving customers access to the considerable locking option range available from Pickersgill-Kaye. It also allows consideration to be given to the aesthetics of the complete end user product offering, which is becoming increasingly relevant and important through architect driven specifications.

The high security single and multipoint locks incorporate a number of key features including stainless steel lock cases, aesthetically pleasing colour matched lock and rod covers, cylinder guard protection and hardened steel bolts with anti-thrust prevention. They have also been independently cycle tested to in excess of one million operations.

For architects, specifiers and contractors working on major products, selecting secure door solutions that have met LPS 1175: Issue 7 standards provides assured security, safety and peace of mind.
