Heald Ltd Made in BritianSecurity product manufacturer, Heald Ltd has been granted use of the Made in Britain marque for its unique product offering.

The company designs, manufactures and installs bollards, roadblockers and barriers from its Hornsea base, with the aim of preventing aggressive criminal organisations from carrying out targeted attacks on high profile sites such as government buildings, airports and shopping centres.

The Made in Britain marque will enable consumers to distinguish between Heald’s British-made products and other goods made abroad. The logo appears on thousands of products worldwide, supporting and promoting the manufacturing skills that exist in Britain today. Read more

MoJ approves Zaun Group companies to supply prison fencing

The MoJ published a framework contract for the supply of fencing materials on 2 June, inviting tenders and requests to participate.

It has now concluded its selection process, including financial audits and sample installations for inspection and testing by MoJ personnel. Read more

Shard owners ramp up security after Greenpeace stunt

Six Greenpeace activists, all of them women, scaled the iconic Shard in London and unfurled a flag with “Save the Arctic” on it to protest against plans to drill in the Arctic by the oil company Shell.

The Prime Minister of Qatar, Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani, inaugurated the 95-storey 310m building on 6 July 2012 in a ceremony attended by HRH Prince Andrew, Duke of York. Read more

Zaun opens gates to Thames Water

zaunPerimeter fencing expert Zaun has installed trackless bi-folding automatic speed gates at a Thames Water administration building.

The vehicle gates – which incorporate live-monitored safety edges, dual height safety photocells and manual-disengaging vertical infill bars – have replaced old rising arm barriers at Kemble Court, Thames Water’s Operations Management Centre in Reading.

Zaun also installed an adjacent pedestrian turnstile with a passage for bicycles and integrated the installation into existing fencing with 1.8m high HiSec fencing. Read more

Big cat-naps aplenty for zoo’s growing London pride – but fencing a must to protect visitors

zaunzooA £5.7m project at London Zoo to help save the Asiatic lion is largely built – and just requires London’s pride to get used to their new home before it is opened to visitors in Easter 2016.

Land of the Lions covers more than 2,500 sq m, or half the size of a football pitch, and will be five times the size of the previous enclosure.  London Zoo’s plan is to increase its number of lions from five to 12 and ramp up its conservation work in India to help boost the species’ dwindling numbers. Steel fencing manufacturer Zaun has installed its HiSec Super8 fencing at Landmark House in Ipswich to hide the recovered goods from prying eyes and secure it against potential trespassers and thieves

The four-storey office block had stood empty since it was built in 2000 by Agilent Technologies next to the A14 until Suffolk Police and Suffolk County Council moved some of their services there to jointly save £1m a year over the 30-year life of the building. Read more
